How Far 2010?

36 hours to get as far away from Brighton and back – without spending any money!That was the challenge taken on by 12 of our intrepid types last weekend. Sent out from St Peter’s at 6am on Saturday morning, in four groups, they begged and blagged their way as far afield as Dover, Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh, taking on extra challenges as they went (e.g. photo with a bride and groom on their wedding day, photo inside a football stadium – Rangers and Chelsea FCs achieved – etc) before making it back in time for Sunday’s Six service and “Heroes tales” in the Eagle pub after. Their exploits raised sponsorship towards the £150k we need by the end of the year to match a grant from English Heritage for the church roof, and were followed by 100s of friends and supporters on Facebook and Twitter, as well as being picked up by the local press, with live radio interviews on BBC Radio Sussex & Surrey, and a piece on BBC TV local news. Next year, we think we might send out 72 for “How Far 2011?"...
