I HEART Brighton Photo Comp
Awoke to a glorious blue sky day over Brighton. Things were looking good for today I LOVE Brighton Photography challenge. Then i looked across at my 10 mega pixel point and shoot, no zoom on it camera and thought 'Mmmmm, maybe I won't be winning quite yet!'
Good crowd turned out at the Church Hall by midday, where organizer Hannah Turpin was firing us all up to go out across the city and get snapping to get the best picture we could to capture this crazy city that we've all come to know and love over the last 9 months. I was feeling suitably inferior in my team when I spotted David Jonnes 'state of art' camera, with v impressive lens. But felt somewhat more relaxed when third team mate Emma suggested a swift half at The Eagle (a regular favorite) to get us focused. Glass of Pimms later, feeling suitably focused and limbered up to start snapping!
As we wandered up the North Laines on a typical sunny Saturday morning - I was reminded of the great sense of fun and expectation that one often feels in Brighton. Where else would you turn a corner to be time warped back into the 1950's complete with guys with brill creamed hair, looking like the Fonz, girls with Marilynn Monroe red lips, their shirts tied at the midriff, capri pants, tea dresses, quiffs, and to top it all a Street Barber complete with chair, offering free men’s hair cuts! snap..snap.
It was a lovely surprise the next morning at Church to see all the entrants pictures, mounted and on the wall. Somehow all together they looked even more impressive and really did reflect the diversity, life and fun of this great city.
