A new term at Safehaven

Rob writes:

After a break for a few weeks, Safehaven, our weekly food kitchen for the street community reopened its doors to serve lovingly-prepared Chilli-con-carne followed by apple crumble and custard on Saturday evening.

After the success of last term during which we served over 400 hot meals over an 8-week period, we wanted to continue serving through the summer months where the need still remains. We opened the doors with some trepidation as to how many guests would come now that the weather is fairer and the evenings much lighter. Despite a break for a few weeks, 42 guests wanted to come in and share food with us.

Every week we all come away feeling that we received more than we give.We can't claim to solve many problems, but we can give hot drinks, a healthy hot meal and build warm relationships - and as long as they are happy to eat with us, we will feel privileged to serve such great people.
