The Bereavement Journey

Who it’s for

The course is for anyone who has experienced a significant bereavement, whether recently or many years ago, and feels they would benefit from spending time in a safe environment exploring some of the issues around the grieving process.

While the course is based on Christian principles, it is designed for people with or without a Christian faith or church background. It takes the perspective that those who are on the grief journey can learn from each other's experience along the way.

There is no charge for the course.

What to expect

The Bereavement Journey starts on 21 September and runs every Monday for six weeks. The course takes place on Zoom and allows people who have been bereaved to explore the issues surrounding their experience and to support one another.

Each session includes watching a short video followed by small group discussion.

Topics covered include:
- attachment, separation and loss
- the impact and pain of bereavement
- adjusting to change
- anger and guilt
- coping with others’ reactions
- moving on healthily
- and an optional sixth session on the faith perspective

Everyone involved in the running of the evening has personal experience of bereavement, so you will be amongst friends.

Resources

In these times of COVID-19 where we have been in isolation and still have restrictions on our lives, we recognise that it has been a particularly difficult time to experience loss.  There are resources and support on the At a Loss website www.ataloss.org  including resources specifically related to COVID-19.
