Love Your Neighbour

Love Your Neighbour is a national movement of churches to provide practical care for the most vulnerable in our communities.

What started as a response the Covid-19 crisis has spread to a network of thousands of churches delivering over 10 million crisis meals, providing debt advice and employment support.

St Peter’s Church is one of 50 regional hubs for the Love Your Neighbour campaign, coordinating all the churches and charity partners in the Brighton & Hove area.

Hope Hampers

Last December, volunteers helped pack and deliver almost 1500 Hope Hampers – parcels full of luxury items and delicious food – to the most vulnerable people in the city. This included people temporarily housed in hostels, vulnerable families and those accessing foodbanks.

“You all have been a life saver with all the lovely gifts and warm wishes. All of the residents are really made up with their hampers from the church.” – Staff member at one of our hostel partners

“Thank you so very very much for the presents and hamper – so enormously thoughtful and kind. The gifts that came from St Peter’s and my hostel are probably the only presents I will receive this year so they are really special. Nicest gesture ever.”

“Been having a rough time and this really made me feel so happy and loved. Thank you for thinking of us.”

“I wanted to thank you for my hamper. I’m 94 and I’m so pleased that somebody has thought of me.”

“I would like to say how incredibly grateful we are to all at St Peter’s for their thoughtfulness and kindness towards our residents during the pandemic; your hampers have been received with deep gratitude (and in the case of one resident, tears of happiness).”
