The Pre-Marriage Course

Starting 26 Febuary

What is it?

With our world still in a state of uncertainty, we know that many weddings have had to be postponed. But this term could still be a great time to have some special evenings and grow increasingly excited about your future marriage. The Pre-Marriage Course is a series of five sessions designed to help couples who are either exploring the possibility of marriage or are already engaged to build strong foundations for their future together. It was developed by Nicky and Sila Lee, who have been married for over 40 years and speak regularly on relationships and marriage preparation.

Who is it for?

While based on Christian principles, the course is relevant and helpful for any couple exploring marriage with or without a Christian faith or church background.

What can I expect?

The course will be run virtually via Zoom. The five sessions include streaming of the digital talks interspersed with plenty of time for private discussions in couples - there's no group sharing.

Topics covered are:

* Communication

* Commitment

* Conflict

* Connection

* Adventure

A week before the course begins, all couples complete an online questionnaire - the Couple Survey. The questionnaire will help you recognise areas of strength and also any topics which might require deeper discussion over the course. Each couple is then allocated a married ‘Support Couple’ from St Peter’s with whom you are invited to have a virtual supper at the end of the course to talk through the survey. This is always a really lovely and memorable evening, establishing a connection with a couple who may in the future provide a listening ear if necessary.

What is the cost?

The cost of the 5-week course is £13 per couple, which covers the cost of the guest journals. Bursaries are available, so please don’t let the cost deter you from joining us.
