Parenting Children

Kids Matter

In the Autumn 2018 we are running the ‘Kids Matter’ parenting programme as part of our work alongside St Cuthman’s Whitehawk and Safehaven Mother and Baby.

‘Kids Matter’ is a 6-week parenting programme which empowers parents of children aged 0-10 to grow in confidence and skills to build strong relationships with their children. It offers parents practical tips and skills on how to make family life and parenting more successful and enjoyable in a warm, supportive environment. A light lunch will be provided and a crèche is available. Booking is essential.

Taster session: Monday 24 September, 11am-1pm at St Peter’s (in the hall)

Programme starts: Monday 29 October, 11am-1pm

Last session Monday 6 December

Please email safehavenmotherandbaby@stpetersbrighton.org for more information.

The Parenting Course

What is it?

The course was created by Nicky and Sila Lee who have worked with couples and families for over 20 years and speak regularly on parenting. They are co-authors of 'The Marriage Book' and “The Parenting Book” and also created The Marriage Course, The Marriage Preparation Course and The Parenting Teenagers Course. While the course is based on Christian principles, it is relevant and helpful for any parent with or without a Christian faith or church background.

Who is it for?

Parenting Children is a course for any parent, step parent or caregiver of children aged 0 - 10.

What can I expect?

Each session starts with refreshments, followed by a talk on DVD and time for discussion in small groups. Discovering we are not alone in the challenges we face and picking up ideas from other parents can make a huge difference! Topics include:

  • Building strong foundations
  • Love in action
  • Setting boundaries
  • Building character
  • Our long term aim

What is the cost?

The cost is £15 per person, which covers the cost of refreshments and materials. Bursaries are available so please don't let cost deter you from joining us!
