On 8 May 1824 the foundation stone for St Peter’s Church was laid. Two hundred years later, we are celebrating that key moment with a series of projects and events that highlight the history of the church, its evolution as a centre for worship and community connection, and its ongoing impact on the lives of local Brighton residents.

For two centuries, St Peter’s Church has stood as a symbol of faith, community, and architectural beauty in the heart of Brighton. The church has been a witness to countless moments of joy, reflection, and resilience, serving as a spiritual home for generations. It remains a landmark of the city’s rich heritage.
Filming Our Storytellers
As part of St Peter’s 200 anniversary celebrations, we wanted to discover, capture and share forgotten and untold stories about the church from across generations, with a particular focus on working class histories.
