William Robinson

William Robinson was born on 31/05/1852 to John Robinson and his wife Jane Winton, and was baptised in Brighton on 20/06/1852. On 17/05/1875 he married Ellen Lewry, and they had 2 children.
He was a verger for over 25 years, 1873 – 1889 at St. Nicholas and 1889 – 1898 at St. Peter’s.
He died at the age of 46 years on 19/01/1898.

THE VICAR & CHURCHWARDENS (PAST & PRESENT) OF BRIGHTON, HAVE CAUSED THIS TABLET TO BE ERECTED IN MEMORY OF WILLIAM ROBINSON, A FAITHFUL VERGER FOR MORE THAN TWENTY FIVE YEARS. 1873-89 AT ST. NICHOLAS, 1889-98 HERE. HIS COURTEOUS ENERGY ENDEARED HIM TO ALL BROUGHT INTO CONTACT WITH HIM, IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF MORE THAN £100. WAS PRESENTED TO HIS WIDOW ON THE OCCASION OF HIS UNEXPECTED DEATH.
