The Peter and the Nicholas Window
by B. van Cleve
Both windows are situated on the north side of the tower. They are a Kempe windows and were manufactured in 1897 (Peter) and 1898 (Nicholas).

The Peter window is very difficult to reach at the moment because of the scaffolding and the renovation activities.

Peter is depicted with halo. A banner is floating around his head which reads:
S Petrus princeps apostoloru S Peter the foremost among the apostles
He has an open book in his hand. Because of the scaffolding and the lack of light it is difficult to discern all the letters. What can be seen under the present
circumstances reads as follows:
Simon Petrus servu & Apostolu Jesus X Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ

Next to his leg, a model of St. Peter’s Church can be seen. A banner is floating around its base which reads:
Ecclesia Christi

The dedicational text for the Peter window reads:
Arthur Loader, churchwarden
of Brighton 1891 – 1895.
Erected by his friends.
Born October 1st 1839.
Died April 4th 1895.

The Nicholas window is only partly visible because of the building activities in the tower. The dedicational text is partly obscured.
